All kitchen countertops shown below are pre-cut in standard sizes.
Superior Stone & Cabinet carries and installs both prefabricated granite and granite slabs. We’ve seen customers happy with both types. tell the difference between prefabricated granite and granite slab once each is installed. If the countertop has bullnose edging, they may be able to guess that it is prefabricated, but—otherwise—all bets are off. If anything, granite quality is determined by the cost and origin of the granite—not the manufacturing style. This is why it’s important to work with a reputable, local installer. Since prefabricated granite is mass-produced with no customization, it’s generally less expensive than a custom granite slab.
Our products are cut from first rate natural stone, with an eye on design, functionality, and durability. It has a flair which is both luxurious and striking though. Not especially good for heavy traffic use in the kitchen area, it is lovely as a bar-area countertop or as a countertop accent. When looked at under counter-lighting, onyx also has an almost mystical transparent quality about it.

Our concrete countertops are hand-crafted in the USA with the highest quality materials and using state-of-the-art processes. We also carry longer kitchen islands than most of our competitors, who may only carry up to 30 to 36” x 96” lengths. Artistic Stone carries sizes up to 52” width and 100” length. A colorful kitchen can sometimes look too busy, especially when combined with stone countertops. But the silvery, reflective properties of stainless steel work wonderfully well with bright colors. The downside with the prefab granite is most of the fabrication labor is done in India or China where they have less quality requirements and less expensive labor and equipment.
A lot of potential customers find the word prefab a bit worrisome, but in reality – you have nothing to fear. Try to think of prefab as a different/next step in the manufacturing process, instead of buying an unfinished raw large slab, you are buying a smaller ready made slab. The quality, stone, mineral breakdown is exactly the same, only the shape & size are different! Prefab is advancing every year, due to its affordability, prefab also comes in a multiple edge profile such as round, square and ogee bull nose edge styles. Whether you are making decisions regarding a brand new construction project or involved in a residential remodel, the topic of countertops is going to be broached at some point in the process.
Suitable for residential and commercial applications, Calacatta Naples creates perfect white quartz countertops, waterfall islands, floors, accent walls, or backsplashes. Available in 2 cm and 3 cm slabs with a polished finish, this subtle yet statement-making quartz offers plenty of design and installation flexibility. Prefabricated granite and slab granite are both made from the natural stone of course and they are both cut from a mountain. Prefab granite simply means that some of the fabrication has already been done before it is shipped to the US.
inside the perimeter (1 in. for cast iron) you’ve just marked. Make sure the top is clamped down to your work surface to keep it from “walking” away from you as you sand. Sand only to your scribe line, keeping the belt sander at 90 degrees or more to the top of the backsplash as shown. Set your scribing tool to the width of the widest gap along each wall. Apply masking tape to the top of the backsplash and use your scribe to mark the entire length of each countertop. Scribe to each wall, adjusting your scribing tool each time for the largest gap on that wall.
I did learn that the slabs are only about $400 per 8′ long piece, which sounds like an amazing deal! , but then they need to be fabricated so the labor adds more cost. However, all of that savings in materials means that this is a way cheaper option in most cases.
However, just because they cost a bit less does not mean that it is not granite. Rather, prefab granite counters are granite; they have merely been made from slabs of granite that have been pre-cut and refinished in a central factory and then shipped to a dealer to be sold. Prefab countertops are pre-cut to standard sizes, so they can be manufactured in large quantities. Therefore, they are significantly cheaper than custom slabs.
